Massey Garden and museum
A true green lung in the heart of town, the Massey Garden mixes remarkable trees, a reconstructed Romanesque cloister and the Hussars Museum. You stroll together between peacocks, basins and lawns, with the snowy peaks of the Pyrenees as a backdrop. A romantic date is almost already a success here before you have said hello, especially on the first fine days of spring.
National stud, Place de Verdun and Marcadieu Hall
Founded by Napoleon, the Tarbes national stud still breeds splendid Anglo-Arab horses in a peaceful park open to walkers. In the centre, Place de Verdun spreads its paths in front of Notre-Dame-de-la-Sève Cathedral and the birthplace of Marshal Foch. Not far away, the Marcadieu Hall hosts the big Thursday market, ideal for sharing a drink and tasting the local Bigorre produce.
Toward the Adour and the Pic du Midi
The banks of the Adour, laid out as a green corridor, invite a bike ride into the surrounding countryside. An hour from Tarbes, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and its observatory crown the landscape and, on clear days, offer an unforgettable panorama. On Lyad, members from Tarbes share their best Pyrenean spots; it is up to you to find someone to look upward with.
